THE HISTORY OF EDSA SHRINE : SHRINE OF MARY , QUEEN OF PEACE

Have you heard of the 1986 People Power Revolution? If you don't, you're missing out on one of the most important historical events in the Philippines. Two million Filipinos marched along Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue during the People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution, in 1986. (EDSA). For the past twenty years, it has been a symbol of opposition to President Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorship.

And, as a tribute to what happened after the People Power Revolution, the EDSA Shrine, also known as the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, was established and created, as proposed by Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin after the Marcos family left for Hawaii. The EDSA Shrine was then constructed, with Francisco Maosa serving as the architect.

The EDSA Shrine is situated at the crossroads of Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue and Ortigas Avenue.
